K M Rehan Salahuddin: Mr. Peter Jaffray, would you please tell something about you and introduce yourself to our readers?
Peter Jaffray: Thank you for your kind words. I started Choice Online Marketing Group in 2010 with a partner in Edmonton, Alberta. As a new Alberta corporation we began approaching potential clients with our web design based business model and listened to their needs. Our very first clients, Izmirli Insurance and Alberta Traffic Defenders, believed in us and tried us out. Since then we have grown to over 44 clients and have great relationships with all of them. Choice OMG has evolved from a simple website design company into a full blown advertising agency. Our goals are the same, but the way we assist our clients in generating business has broadened significantly.

K M Rehan Salahuddin: What makes you different than other online marketing and website development companies?
Peter Jaffray: First of all, I have a much more talented team than any other local competitor and we are getting better as a team every day. But more importantly, the online marketing world is continually changing. We are constantly changing the way in which we promote our clients. Our company takes ownership of the promotional function and adapts products to meet strategic objectives.
K M Rehan Salahuddin: That sounds interesting, but like many common people out here in the real world, we need a simple explanation of what you are talking about. Can you please explain the ways in which you change and evolve your promotional strategies for your web design clients?
Peter Jaffray: That’s just it. We take over the marketing function in the online channel so you don’t need to understand everything. But an example might suffice for this interview. Last year, before Google updated the way it graded websites, many SEO strategies revolved around generating large quantities of back-links (links from external websites) through both human and automated processes. This year, however, Google is grading the relevance of websites based on the quality of the user experience and the actual content or value provided by a website. So what this means is that we changes things like genuine blog posts, relevant content, and the true offering of our clients must be clearly communicated. Also, because social media type website (commonly referred to as Web 2.0) are very important, if you have unnatural levels of popularity in external websites, but no popularity in the Web 2.0 realm, Google will bump you off the first page.
Peter Jaffray: So to sum it all up, Choice OMG adjusts websites for the clients and fine-tunes online marketing strategies based on the changing online world. We aim to keep our clients successful.
K M Rehan Salahuddin: Numbers of offered services are growing day by day on your website but how do you rate these services? Is there any customized solution package for clients?
Peter Jaffray: That is factually incorrect. The number of services we offer is becoming smaller and smaller. What we are doing is gaining the trust of our clients and offering a single “online marketing service” where we decide what is best for each client. It is difficult to break down online marketing in such a dynamic and changing industry and the only reason we break them down on our website is to give potential clients a means to compare us to our competitors. Other than that, once we get them in our door and show them success, they allocate a budget to us based on our recommendations and we deliver results and reports to improve the return on their advertising investments.
K M Rehan Salahuddin: What makes your company very special? In which aspect you are ahead of other similar service providers?
Peter Jaffray: Choice OMG has the best graphic designer in Edmonton, Jennifer Darling, as well as one of the scariest Linux programmers on the Internet: Tarek Kaddoura. Tarek is scary because its kind of spooky how fast he rips around the command line writing scripts and connecting API’s from Google Analytics, Adwords, and especially Facebook. It’s hard to showcase his work, but let me tell you, it’s pretty impressive and I hope Google doesn’t take him from me
Luckily he, and Jennifer are both owners in the company and we all share the same vision.
Thank you for your comments and your answers to our questions Peter. We really appreciate the fact that we will be working with you on our projects and look forward to more success with Choice OMG. We wish you all the best for you and your clients. Keep up the outstanding work and we will soon see you on the cover of Fortune 500 as the next big Internet advertising superstar.

The Yellow Pages Model
I had a client call me today and talk about improving their website. They informed me that they were paying a significant amount of money to have a featured ad with YellowPages.ca. I did some research to find out what, exactly, they were getting. Well not only did their search keywords only drive organic Google traffic to yellowpages.ca rather than to specific products, but YellowPages restricts the information to yellowpages.ca specific fields within their website.
I am sure there is a use for yellowpages.ca for some companies, but success is not universal. If you disagree with me I would love to hear your comments. I do not have the resources to conduct elaborate research; however, I did have a look around the site and performed a bit of keyword research.
It is critical to understand what you are paying for. Their model not only promotes themselves more than the companies they list, but it also neglects to cater to their customers. This is a questionable model and only thrives because they have mastered SEO for themselves. All I can do is caution people that an advertisement on their site is only a link and they should budget it, accordingly. Keep in mind the actual number of phone calls you receive as the success metric for their campaigns and ignore the traffic reports that they give you because that information is only a small part of the picture. It is not ‘true’ marketing for yourself; you are paying to fill the list of products on yellowpages.ca.
A wise businessperson must critically assess where their money is going. If they only require a link, yellowpages.ca is fine, but do not expect actual advertisement of your product!
